Static Observation No. 2

In addition to the objects from the previous observation, I noticed smaller details this time. For example, I noticed the pink ribbon atop the accordion, the colorful/expandable spiky ball, a smaller silver object next to it, and a book of some sort hiding behind the accordion. I realized that the 'blocks' I identified in the first observation were actually more colorful robots strewn about in different configurations, and that the colorful wooden base underneath the robots created a sort of scene or layout. In noticing these small details, I began to predict how and from where these objects originated. I wondered about the story behind the accordion and the pink ribbon on top. I noticed the feather on top of it and wondered if there was any connection between the two items, and I noticed characters on top of the rectangular red box which led me to think about the possible uses of this object.

Seeing these objects for a second time allowed me to focus in on what I had missed in the first observation. During the first observation, I was preoccupied with 'accounting' for everything on the table. I looked at the big picture of what was present and what was not. Seeing the same objects for a second time forced me to focus in on the objects present and attempt to make sense of them in a way I was not able to the first time. I also recognize that as an observer, I aim to create backstories for objects as a means of remembering and making sense of things.
